If you spot insects in your Mandevilla/Dipladenia, it’s safe to assume they’re aphids. Aphids are easy to spot: just look for a slow-moving cluster of tiny bugs, usually at the top of the plant. They can be yellow, black, green or brown. If you suddenly notice a swarm of ladybirds or ants near your Mandevilla, that’s another sign you may have aphids.
Once you’ve determined that aphids are indeed the culprit, follow the tips below to get rid of them:
There are a lot of products on the market to combat aphids. We prefer to use organic agents because they’re better for the environment. We tested several products and highly recommend Savon Noir Jardin by Marius Fabre. This effective product is made from black soap and contains no toxic ingredients. It causes the aphids to dry out.
If you see white residue on the leaves you’ll know the product worked. Aphids leave behind white skins when they dry up.
